2015 Applecross Pinot Noir

Out of stock

March 12th harvest. A pitiful yield of 0.6 t/Ha. We had elected during winter to drop the fruiting wire from 800mm to 600mm, so pruning was significant and severe (chainsaw), with expected heavy losses. In the end, the birds were the tragic finale to the story. I estimate that the birds, mostly silver-eyes, took 4t in 3 days just prior to picking. We have since invested in nets. Whole bunch fermentation (100%) over three weeks before pressing to just three barrels for ML and maturation. No new oak, the youngest vessel 3 years old. 10 months sur lie in barrel before blending and bottling, without fining or filtration. One for the cellar, this wines needs decanting to show it’s best. Released in March 2017.
75 dozen bottled.
